China business visa not approved? Identify the stage before acting
An online correction request, a pending review and a refusal are different situations. Read the official status and feedback first; a delayed update alone does not establish a refusal.

Status-to-action desk
- What you see
- Online review in progress
- What it means
- Your application is still being reviewed; elapsed time alone is not a decision.
- Next action
- Monitor the official application account and contact channels for instructions.
- What you see
- Rejected and to be modified
- What it means
- The Embassy uses this online status when corrections or more uploads are needed.
- Next action
- Read each feedback item, correct or supplement the application and resubmit as instructed; do not label it a final visa refusal.
- What you see
- Passport to be submitted
- What it means
- Online preliminary review has passed; issuance is not guaranteed.
- Next action
- Prepare the barcode information page, passport and required originals for the physical handoff.
- What you see
- Estimated collection date reached, but no collection status
- What it means
- The date was an earliest estimate, not a release confirmation.
- Next action
- Check email, phone and agent notifications for requests; wait for the required collection status.
- What you see
- Passport to be collected
- What it means
- Follow the office’s collection procedure.
- Next action
- Collect as instructed and inspect the actual passport and visa; do not infer visa terms from a status label.
- What you see
- An explicit refusal communicated by the office
- What it means
- The application has a decision distinct from an online correction request.
- Next action
- Keep the notice and ask the issuing office what clarification or future application steps apply to your case.
Build a response packet from the actual feedback
- Record the exact status, stage and consular feedback privately; distinguish an official request from an internal employer deadline.
- Make a checklist of each requested change: what is wrong or missing, who can supply the truthful evidence, and which file must be replaced.
- For invitation issues, ask the actual Chinese host to correct its letter; align identity, meeting purpose, dates, cities and expense responsibility with the application.
- Follow the official correction route. Avoid repeated cancellations or duplicate forms merely to try to accelerate review; the Embassy FAQ limits applicant cancellations to two within 90 days.
- Keep the corrected version and submission confirmation, then watch for the next official instruction. Reassess travel plans if review remains pending.
What preparation support can and cannot change
CEV’s selected form-review or handoff service can help identify inconsistencies and coordinate requested documents within its scope. CEV cannot reverse a consular decision, promise a successful resubmission or treat an invitation as proof that a visa must be granted. Do not conceal a previous refusal or alter facts to fit a category.
What our evidence does not yet tell us
A verified, consented empirical supplement on business-visa material returns and refusal cases is pending. We have not published a rejection rate, a ranked list of ‘most common’ causes or invented case stories. The action checklist above is based on official process guidance; it cannot diagnose the reason for a particular decision.
