Business visa invitation letter: contents and annotated examples
Use the M-visa content checklist to ask your genuine Chinese trade partner for the right information. Learn from fictional fragments, then have the inviting party prepare its own letter.

Check the three groups in Annex 2
New York’s requirements, Annex 2, and the Embassy’s corresponding annex organize invitation content into the invitee, the visit and the inviter. For an M application, the commercial-activity document comes from the trade partner in China. Check the responsible office’s current instructions as well.
| Group | Information to check | Who confirms it |
|---|---|---|
| 01 · Invitee | Name, gender, date of birth and passport number. | Applicant provides accurate passport details; inviter enters and checks them. |
| 02 · Visit | Purpose, arrival and departure, places, relationship to the inviter and who pays. | Inviter confirms activities; applicant and actual payer verify their respective facts. |
| 03 · Inviter | Name, address, telephone, date, and the seal / legal-representative signature specified in Annex 2. | The inviting organization issues the document and completes its own signing/sealing process. |
Los Angeles’ September 2026 FAQ separately requires the inviter’s signature. Do not treat a typed company name as proof that the letter has been signed, or copy a seal from a sample.
Fictional instructional fragments — not a submission template
Every fragment below is fictional instructional content, not a customer case or an invitation. There is no real company, passport identifier, signature or seal. Each invitation field must be completed and verified by the genuine inviting party; these fragments must not be submitted.
| Fictional fragment | Numbered margin note · author and check |
|---|---|
| EXAMPLE ONLY · Person A / passport identifier omitted | 01 · Inviter fills this field from the applicant’s current passport. This teaching label is deliberately not an identity. |
| EXAMPLE ONLY · Discuss the proposed product specification; City A; illustrative visit from 10 to 14 November 2030 | 02 · Inviter fills this field with the real purpose, actual places and agreed dates. Fictional future dates are not a travel plan or a processing estimate. |
| EXAMPLE ONLY · Buyer–supplier discussions; airfare paid by applicant, local meeting transport by inviter | 03 · Inviter fills this field after both parties confirm the real relationship and expense allocation. Do not invent a payer to make a letter look complete. |
| EXAMPLE ONLY · Inviter details and execution deliberately absent | 04 · Inviter supplies its own real contact details and the required signature/seal. This fragment cannot serve as evidence of an invitation. |
Ask your partner to prepare its own letter
Instructional request-email example — fictional and not an invitation. Replace the teaching labels only in a private request to a real partner; the partner must determine and verify its letter. Do not put passport scans in a broad email distribution list.
English request example (fictional instructional content, not an invitation): Hello, please issue an invitation based on our agreed business activities, confirming the purpose, visit dates, places, our relationship and the payment arrangement. Let us verify passport details through a private channel we agree on. Please include the inviter details and complete the signature and seal required by the responsible consular office, then provide a complete, legible document. If the office requests an original, please coordinate delivery with us. Thank you.
- Identify the real host and confirm the actual visit.
- Send the relevant official requirements, not somebody else’s completed invitation.
- Compare the issued letter with your application before uploading; ask the issuer to correct errors.
A sample is a reading aid, not a purchased invitation
CEV is an independent service provider, not a consular office. CEV does not issue, ghostwrite or buy invitation letters, and does not supply an inviter. The genuine inviting party is responsible for the letter; the applicant verifies their own information; the consular office decides what to accept and whether to issue a visa. Existing form and material review can help check preparation within the selected service, without guaranteeing approval or timing.
This guide provides annotated on-page examples. There is no downloadable PDF or Word invitation here and no ready-to-submit form. A request email does not replace the letter issued by the inviter.
