# Q2 family invitation letter: an annotated example

[Service guides](https://app.chinaentryvisa.com/guides) › [China family visit visa: plan a reunion, one document at a time](https://app.chinaentryvisa.com/guides/china-family-visit-visa) › Q2 family invitation letter: an annotated example

See how the inviter’s identity, the family relationship and the intended visit fit together. This fictional teaching example is readable text, not an official form or a ready-to-submit letter.

## The relative issues the invitation

For Q2, the invitation comes from a Chinese citizen living in China or a foreign citizen with Chinese permanent residence living there. The Embassy’s Annex 1 covers family invitations for Q1, Q2, S1 and S2. The inviter should state the actual relationship and visit, sign and date the letter, and supply the applicable identity evidence.

## Fictional example — replace every field and remove annotations

Lin Example and Morgan Example are fictional names. Bracketed fields deliberately contain no real identity numbers, addresses or contact details. The proposed arrival on March 10, 2027 and 21-day visit are illustrative requests, not an approved stay or a customer case.

| Example passage | What the inviter must verify |
| --- | --- |
| Inviter: Lin Example; gender: [actual value]; birth date: [actual date]; Chinese ID: [actual number]; address in China: [full actual address]; telephone and email: [actual contacts]. | Use the inviter’s genuine identity and reachable contact details. For a foreign permanent resident, use passport and Chinese permanent residence details instead. |
| I invite my daughter, Morgan Example, to visit me in China for a family reunion. Planned arrival: March 10, 2027; intended stay: 21 days. | Describe the real relationship, purpose and intended timing; keep them consistent with the application. |
| Invitee: Morgan Example; gender: [actual value]; birth date: [actual date]; nationality: [actual value]; passport number: [actual number]. | Copy identity details from the applicant’s documents; repeat complete details for each person if using a family letter and confirm that the office accepts that format. |
| Inviter’s signature: [signed by actual inviter]. Date: [actual signing date]. | The genuine inviter takes responsibility. Do not submit placeholders, this annotation column or the fictional names. |

## Attach evidence of the inviter’s identity

- Chinese citizen inviter: readable copies of both sides of the Chinese identity card.
- Foreign permanent resident inviter: passport biographical page plus both sides of the Chinese permanent residence card.
- Q1 is a different document route: relationship proof is listed, including an original for verification; S invitations use the foreign host’s applicable passport and residence evidence. Confirm the category before borrowing a Q2 checklist.

Check the office’s upload and original-document instructions. A scan is not a universal promise that an original will never be requested.

## Review the letter together before submitting

- Does the inviter’s name match the identity attachment?
- Is the applicant’s passport number current?
- Do the relationship, arrival and intended stay agree with the form?
- Are the signature and signing date present?
- Have all fictional names and bracketed instructions been replaced?

CEV does not issue, ghostwrite or buy invitation letters, and does not provide an inviter. Existing visa form review can help check preparation within the purchased service; the consular office decides acceptance and issuance.
